Why Claude Chat Can’t Run Your Real Estate Workflows
Chat tools are great. They will write your listing copy, draft your follow-up emails, review your contracts. They are excellent for that work. But your business does not run on drafts — it runs on workflows. And chat literally cannot run a workflow. This is not a knock on chat tools. It is a capability map. Different jobs, different tools.

Capability Map — Chat vs Code
Same family of model. Different runtime. Here’s what each does — and where chat tops out:
- Chat is great at: drafts, brainstorming, rewriting, summarizing, reviewing. Synchronous, you-at-the-keyboard work.
- Chat cannot: Run on a schedule. Read or write files on your computer. Connect to your CRM, MLS, email. Take an action without you watching. Persist a workflow across days.
- Claude Code can: Run on a cron. Read and write your files. Connect to APIs (BoldTrail, kvCore, MLS, email). Coordinate multi-step workflows. Persist via Skills.
- Your business needs: the ‘cannot’ list above, running overnight, every night.
- The ‘while you sleep’ test: if you want it to happen between 11 PM and 7 AM, you need Code. If it happens at your desk during the day, chat is fine.
